Abstract
The operation and construction of various instruments used by Soviet oceanographers, such as current meters, bathythermographs, optical apparatus, etc., are discussed. The measurements, their accuracy and suitability for oceanographic research are evaluated, pointing out the trends in the development of the instruments. An article by Maslennikova presents a brief review of oceanographic instruments used in other countries. (Author)
