Thermodynamics of Vanadium Alloys. Part III. Relative Ionization Cross Sections of Transition Metals Using Time-of-Flight Mass Spectrometry.
Abstract
The ion current ratio data, treated using a modified form of the regular solution model, can be used to calculate relative electron impact ionization cross sections. Although this was not the primary reason for this research, the method outlined indicates that the ion current ratio data are thermodynamically consistent. The method outlined, while based on experimental ion current ratio data, makes use of absolute vapor pressure data from other sources and shows the dependency of calculated cross sections on these vapor pressure measurements. Thus, the calculation of relative electron impact ionization cross sections seems to be as good as available data on absolute vapor pressure measurements. (Author)
