On Rapid Calculating Techniques for the Reliability of Serial Triple-Modular Redundacy.

Abstract

Several papers have been written on the rapid reliability calculation of a triple-modular redundancy version of a cascade network. The different approaches to the problem are briefly reviewed and a third approach, developed by Lyons, is extended. Equations to approximate the maximum obtainable reliability using TMR are given for both the single and triplicated voter case. An example serves to indicate how close an approximation may be expected. A lower bound on voter reliability is also developed. (Author)
