Abstract

The contract supported from September 1962 to September 1969 a program of basic research whose broad aim was 'to better understand the geophysical processes in the below the ocean' that relate to the acoustical environmental and other Naval problems. The program had five areas of interest: ocean acoustics; physical oceanography; sea floor properties; advisory activities; and shipboard data processing. A review of the highlights of the research in each area, and a bibliography of published and unpublished formal reports, is presented. (Author)
