Aliphatic Imide-Quinoxaline Copolymers.

Abstract

The preparation, characterization and evaluation of the thermal and solubility properties of four new ordered imide-quinoxaline copolymers are described. These copolymers were prepared via a condensation reaction between various ortho tetraamines and N,N'-bis(4-benzilyl)-tetrahydrofuran tetracarboxylimide. Their thermal (PDT's 290-350C) and oxidative stabilities were governed by the tetrahydrofuran group in the polymer backbone. Polymer solubility was demonstrated in a variety of solvents and strong films and fibers were obtained from m-cresol solutions. (Author)
