Metal Dialkylphenyl Pyrophosphates as Detergent Additives for Lubricating Oils,

Abstract

The use as detergent additives of salts of pyrophosphates is proposed. The pyrophosphates are synthesized by the condensation of alkylphenylphosphoric acids by means of phosphorus pentoxide and subsequent treatment of the condensation products with barium hydroxide. The additive obtained is a pyrophosphate of barium; its composition includes 12.1% P and 16% Ba. (Author)
