Detection of Sampled Signals,

Abstract

It is shown that a signal whose frequency spectrum is symmetrical in amplitude but not necessarily in phase about the midband frequency has a narrower ambiguity function in the time domain than one whose amplitude spectrum is asymmetric. It is also shown that if the sampling frequency is in quadrature with the midband frequency near the point when the envelope reaches its peak value, at least two other samples will be obtained whose amplitudes are no more than 4 dB below this peak value.
