Rotating R-Field Plasma for Thermonuclear Power Reactors.

Abstract

A hydrogen plasma was created in a magnetic bottle by the use of a two-phase oscillator operated at a cyclotron frequency of 4.225 MHz. Ion densities and energies in the neighborhood of 5 x 10 to the (-12) power/cc and 400 eV were achieved. A disc-type dense plasma focus device of 8-3/4 inch diameter operated best at a deuterium pressure of 0.7 Torr. Ion densities and energies in the neighborhood 10 to the 19th power/cc and 100 eV were achieved. (Author)
