Temperature Measurements of Ar Plasma Arcs and Preliminary f-Value Measurements of Lyman Beta, Gamma and Delta.

Abstract

A wall-stabilized arc is investigated spectroscopically in both the visible and the vacuum ultraviolet regions in the A. part of the report. The plasma temperature is studied as a function of pressure and deviations from the local thermal equilibrium (LTE) are observed. The B. part deals with preliminary measurements of f-values of the hydrogen resonance lines Lyman-beta, gamma, delta. Finally, it is shown that the arc can also be operated in helium. (Author)
