Optimal Feedback Control of Hereditary Processes.

Abstract

In brief, this thesis is divided into two parts which together provide an exact description of functional-differential equations (F.D.E.) and establish optimal controls for special cases. Part 1 successfully treats optimum control of a large class of linear F.D.E., whereas in Part 2 optimum control of nonlinear F.D.E. is reported. Chapters one through four comprise Part 1; the first two are introductory in nature whereas the last two present original results. The results in this study are new in that they extend the previous results for very special cases to more general cases. (Author)
