Airbourne Airglow Studies.

Abstract

During the past three years personnel from Electro-Dynamics Laboratories and Stewart Radiance Laboratory of Utah State University have supported AFCRL personnel in successfully obtaining atmosopheric infrared emission spectra aboard a KC-135 aircraft. Data were obtained using an Interferometer System and an NIR Radiometer System. These systems have been maintained, updated, evaluated, and calibrated throughout the contract period. In addition, a highspeed, nitrogen-cooled, radiation chopper system has been designed, fabricated and installed to make the desired infrared measurements possible. A set of vibration isolation platforms to accommodate the interferometers in the aircraft was also developed and installed. (Author)
