On the Study of Cosmic Rays at Chacaltaya, 1968 - 1970.

Abstract

The aims of the experiment were to study high energy interactions produced by surviving primary protons of the cosmic radiation at the altitude of Chacaltaya (5200 m.a.s.l.). In 1965, a preliminary experiment performed at Chacaltaya, showed that the energy spectrum in the range 10 to the 12th power to 10 to the 14th power eV, was stepper than the total energy spectrum of Cosmic Rays. The present experiment aim was to confirm this preliminary result. This report presents details on the different experimental arrangements used and the scientific results obtained, which were presented in the eleventh International Conference on Cosmic Rays, Budapest, Hungary and at the sixth Interamerican Seminar on Cosmic Rays, La Paz, Bolivia.
