Oxidation of Synthetic Oils Prepared from Esters of Naphthenic Acid,

Abstract

The lubricating oil quality of the complex esters of naphthenic acids were determined. The esters had, after oxidation, acid numbers 3-5 and 0.35-0.97 percent residue insoluble in isooctane. The best additive was ZzNII-10, 0.5 percent during the acidity after oxidation as well as the corrosiveness and residue, whereas the viscosity changed little. The esters have good susceptibility for additives. (Author)
