Studies on Host-Parasite Relationships of Schistosoma japonicum in Taiwan.

Abstract

Results obtained from studies on susceptibility of animals to infection with geographic strains of S. japonicum indicate that the Ilan strain is more closely related to the Changhua strain than to other strains of S. japonicum. The dog, goat and squirrel have been demonstrated to be excellent host for the Ilan strain of the parasite. Similar to the Changhua parasite, the Formosan monkey has been found to be a poor host for the Ilan parasite. (Author)
