Dependence of the Viscosity of Polytetrafluoroethylene on Temperature,

Abstract

From the plots of given temps in 0.2-1.0 Hz range the relaxation activation energies (H) were obtained for Ftoroplast-4 (Polytetrafluoroethylene) (I) and K-21-22 (Phenol-formaldehyde, resin, filled with food flour) (II). For I,H equals 6.5 kcal/mole; and for II, samples of different crystallinities H ranged from 3.2 to 9.9 kcal/mole, supporting the view (D. D. Chegodaev, 1960) that 1 polymer molecule may extend over amorphous and crystal regions. The energy of group vibrations around C-C bonds in I ranged from 3.6 to 5.3 kcal/mole, while the energy of intermol. attraction in I was 2 kcal/mole. (Author)
