A Total System View of Conversion - What Questions Must be Asked Before Strategies Are Determined.

Abstract

The report is a summary of a research study of factors relevant to the field of computer conversion. It concentrates on the computer systems and usage problems that make computer conversion an important field which is ripe for investigation. Each major area within this field is discussed and preliminary hypotheses presented for improvements that might aid in reducing the problems of computer conversion. While there was no attempt to make this a detailed report, it does cover a wide scope and surveys the most important aspects that must be considered by the systems designer interested in both the short and long term effects of incompatibilities in hardware, software, documentation, programmers, system designers, and system evaluators.
