Microwave Breakdown Predictions for a Rectangular Aperture Antenna Including Lateral Diffusion,

Abstract

An improved approximation for the microwave breakdown characteristics of a rectangular aperture antenna in an infinite ground plane was obtained using the variational method of Mayhan and Fante. This approximation is a generalization of that given previously by Mayhan and Fante, and reduces exactly to the latter result in the limit when diffusion across the aperture is negligible. The new approximation is compared with previous theory and with experimental data. (Author)
