Light Phase Range Finding and Modulation of Optical Radiation (Fazovaya Svetodalnometriya i Modulyatsiya Opticheskogo Izlucheniya),

Abstract

Soviet development of optical radar by the State Optical Institute, culminating in the world's first range finder using propagation time of light, is discussed. The principles of this new branch of optical radar, known as light phase range finding, are examined in detail. The conclusion aims at obtaining greater effectiveness and efficiency through further development of pulse range finding. (Author)
