Research Institute Lectures on Geography.

Abstract

The general objectives of the program in geography in the Research Institute is directed toward gaining a deeper knowledge and understanding of the field of geography. Basic research attempts to create and improve new theories, concepts, methods, and techniques that offer the greatest potential for assuring a more precise understanding of theoretical geography, and it examines potential applications of geographic methodology and techniques to military problems. To this end, eminent scholars in the field of geography presented a series of lectures on geography. By this means, the entire community profited by hearing and discussing the latest in geographic thought. These lectures are now offered in this form in the hope that the inspiration engendered by the lectures will assist all of us in carrying out our own research. (Author)
