Control of Vectors Through Interference with Normal Processes of Insect Physiology.

Abstract

The main purpose of the program is to develop 'safe' agents for the control of insects of medical importance. Substances which would create physiological imbalance during insect development stages or profoundly affect insect behavior were studied. The following areas were investigated: Insect - plant interactions; chemicals producing teratogenic effects on insects by interacting with insect cuticle; and substances showing transient interference with the development of insects.
