High Temperature Oxidation of Columbium - 10 at. % Chromium Alloy,

Abstract

Oxidation kinetics of Cb-10 at.% Cr alloy were studied at 900, 1000 and 1100C under oxygen pressures from 100 to 760 torr. At 1000 and 1100C the oxidation kinetics are lower than for pure Cb and the improvement is attributed to modifying effects of Cr cations dissolved in alpha - Cb205. At 900C the oxidation rates of the alloy are higher when compared with pure Cb and the decrease in oxidation resistance is related to polymorphic transformation in Cb205 scale. (Author)
