Maximum Likelihood Estimation from a Truncated Life - Testing Procedure.

Abstract

At time zero, the beginning of the testing for the life-times of items n new items are put on test, when an item fails it is replaced with another new item, and this is repeated until time T the testing is stopped. Assuming that life-time distribution is of the form F(x) = 1 - exp(-lambda g(x)), 0 = or < x = or < T where lambda > 0, g(.) is known and is a strictly increasing function with g(0) = 0 and derivative g'(x), 0 < x = or < T, the MLE of lambda is given and shown to be strongly consistent, asymptotically normally distributed and asymptotically efficient.
