Optimum Width for Loops as Determined by Model Studies,

Abstract

The purpose of the research was to improve the reliability and extent of range of harbor defense detection equipments against surface craft, sneak craft, and swimmers. The report gives the results of an experiment, on models of magnetic indicator loops, designed to find empirically the width for a standard back-to-back loop yielding maximum signal from a given small object.
