A Reflectometer Method for RF Impedance Measurements.
Abstract
A method of measuring rf impedances was developed which makes use of commercially available vector voltmeters and bi-directional coaxial couplers to form a reflectometer. The use of this reflectometer in shipboard antenna impedance measurements resulted in a substantial saving in the time required to perform the same measurements with the traditional rf bridge. Greater convenience was also realized for remotely located antennas. Estimates of the expected accuracy which can be achieved are presented together with comparisons of measurements of the same ipedance made with both the reflectometer and an rf impedance bridge.
