Study of Transistor Linear and Switching Voltage Regulators for Use in Power Conditioning.

Abstract

A requirement exists for a portable direct energy source 60 watt power supply with adjustable output voltage between 24 and 28 volts. Integrated circuit and discrete transistor linear and switching voltage regulators with these outputs were designed, breadboarded and tested with intent toward use in such power supplies. A summary of design characteristics of the transistors and circuits is given, while the resulting test data is presented in tabular and graphical form. A feasibility study of using the tested regulators in conjunction with a dc-dc converted to form a power conditioner is also presented. (Author)
