All-Weather Mapping.

Abstract

The development of mapping systems using sensors with extended weather capabilities has been a research objective at the U. S. Army Engineer Geodesy, Intelligence and Mapping Research and Development Agenty (GIMRADA). This paper describes the current efforts being conducted in all-weather mapping at GIMRADA. The paper contains one definition of All-Weather Mapping and includes a summary of the weather capabilities of various potential mapping sensors. In addition, the paper contains a description of an all-weather mapping concept currently being developed by the Corps of Engineers.
