Abstract

Report of three half-day discussions by a group of technical specialists of the problem of identification and prevention of mechanical failures in internal combustion (reciprocating) engine systems. Objectives were to identify the critical failure areas in these systems, the existing procedures for obtaining data from service failures, and the identification of technology to prevent or predict such failures. Ten prepared talks and accompanying audience discussions are reported. The chairman's general summary is included.
