Development of Chalcopyrite Crystals for Nonlinear Optical Applications

Abstract

Considerable progress has been made in evaluating the optical constants of CdGeAs2. The birefringence and dispersion have been measured allowing phasematching data to be calculated. In addition to optical measurements, work has continued on the crystal growth problem. At the present time, a series of 30 samples are being prepared and evaluated to determine the equilibrium phase diagram for CdGeAs2. The present experiment to measure by second harmonic generation the nonlinear coefficient of CdGeAs2 is discussed.
