Traffic Handling Capacity of the Vortac System and Means of Increasing It in the Future.

Abstract

An investigation of the means of increasing the traffic handling capacity of VORTAC, including low interrogation rate, ability of the interrogator to work with lower reply efficiency and a higher maximum reply rate for the transponders; the increase being proportional to demand. An alternative method based on compatible time-frequency techniques with periodic update of an airborne clock should be investigated. (Author)
