Effect of Surface Roughness on the Surface Temperature of the Sea,

Abstract

The effect of surface roughness on the surface temperature of the sea is calculated on the basis of a simple conduction and radiation model. This model assumes constant sky and water temperatures with conductive heat transfer through a thin boundary layer at the water surface. Analytic approximations are found for the change in surface temperature due to a pure wave disturbance and the differential change in surface temperature with differential surface roughening.
