Fourier Analysis of Initial Value Problems for Surface and Internal Waves (An Expository Report),

Abstract

Two initial value problems are considered for the linearized equations of motion of an ocean of variable density and constant depth. The equations are cast in a dimensionless scaled form developed by the authors in a recent paper. In this form a large parameter is identified and the problems are amenable to Fourier analysis and asymptotic analysis of the resulting integral representations. (Author)
