An NMR Study of Ligand Exchange Kinetics of Ni(II) N,N-Dimethylformamide in Mixed Solvents.

Abstract

Ni(N,N-dimethylformamide)6 in mixed solvents with nitromethane was studied by nuclear magnetic resonance. The ligand exchange parameters in mixed solvents with nitromethane were found to be independent of the composition of the solvent. This finding, coupled with the fact that the solvation shell is not pure N,N-dimethylformamide, clearly supports the D mechanism of dissociation as was the case for Ni(DMSO)6(+2). (Author)
