Pb(1-x)Sn(x)Te Epitaxial Films: Normal Growth and Heat Treatment; Special Growth.

Abstract

Various growth techniques and heat treatments have been investigated in order to produce high quality epitaxial films of Pb(1-x)Sn(x)Te with controlled values of both the Pb/Sn ratio and the PbSn/Te ratio. The first primarily controls the value of the band gap, and the second, the value of the carrier concentration. Also included in the report are: synthesis of the bulk, x-ray analysis, film thickness determination, Hall measurements, plastic mounting of the films and photoconductive properties. (Author)
