BA-540( )/U Water Activated 2-Pound Zinc Air Battery.

Abstract

The report describes the work performed under contract No. DAAB07-70-C-0157 with the United States Army Electronics Command. Under this none-month contract ESB Incorporated fabricated to fabricate 42 BA-540( )/U two-pound zinc air water activated batteries. The batteries were fabricated and tested from 0F to 125F and following 7-day activated stand and severe physical environments with all tests equaling or exceeding discharge requirements. The batteries delivered up to 14 Ahrs on an 18:2 receive-transmit duty cycle, with the energy density ranging from 64 watt hrs/lb. at 0F to as high as 118 watt hrs/lb at 75F. The report discusses the development of the design, the construction technique, and the testing results and conclusions. (Author)
