Feeding of Commercial Whales of the Kuriles (Pitanie Promyslovykh Kitov Kurilskogo Raiona),

Abstract

Observations on the feeding habits of whales in the Kuriles region during 1951-1956 are discussed. Data gathered by other investigators in the same and adjacent areas are compared with the findings, pointing out the major trends in the feeding habits of whales. It appears that the hydrological regime, which affects the availability and composition of food, affects variations in the quantity and composition of food in various areas and at various times.
