Abstract
The report describes the genesis and development of the emerging field of thraustics, the technology of using high-performance materials of limited ductility in load-bearing, structural applications. Included are the papers presented, the nine major recommendations of the conference, background material, a history of the thraustics effort, and interpretative discussions of the recommendations.
