Systems Analysis for a 'New Generation' of Military Hospitals. Volume 2. Reorganization of the Base Level Military Health Care System

Abstract

Reorganization of the base-level health care system to take advantage of the proposed innovations is discussed. Many of the changes--particularly those concerned with ambulatory care and light care--require changes in organization at least as much as they require changes in facilities or equipment. The same might be said of the introduction of computer systems, which is one of the matters discussed in connection with changes in hospital services. Here various kinds of automation and streamlining of clinical laboratory, food service, patient monitoring, physical examination facilities, nursing care, pharmacy, and materials handling are reviewed.
