Abstract

The volume deals with improvements to support services. These are the areas where technology has the most to offer. There are studied concerning automated materials handling systems, convenience foods, unit packaging and automation in the pharmacy, disposable linens, computer-linked communications and remote consultation using television, automation in the clinical laboratory, and other computer systems for purposes such as maintaining patient records, scheduling, and inventory control.
