Comparisons of H2O Vapor Profiles Obtained by Radiosonde and Laser Backscatter,

Abstract

Vertical profiles of atmospheric absolute humidity were obtained between 500m and 2000m by monitoring an appropriate portion of the Raman component of laser backscatter and were compared with radiosonde data taken at essentially the same time and place. Comparative accuracies of about 10% relative accuracy and 13% absolute accuracy were measured. A parity with the radiosonde accuracy is shown for the laser method of measuring humidity. (Author)
