Development of Screenable High Dielectric Constant Ceramic-Glass Dielectrics.

Abstract

The report describes the technique and procedures used to develop low firing temperature 'screened in place dielectric' (barium titanate-glass frit) paste for use as thick film capacitors in microcircuits. This BaTiO3 - glass composition was found to possess effective dielectric constant values over K-1000 and loss tangent less than 2% when screen-printed on metallized alumina ceramic substrate and fired to 1000C. These BaTiO3 - glass systems have also been found suitable for processing bulk ceramic specimens having dielectric constant values up to K-1900 and low dielectric loss. Electrical data - dielectric constant, loss tangent with temperature and temperature coefficient of dielectric constant are reported. Electron micrographs and physical properties of glass frit are also included. (Author)
