Multiple-Wave Interferometers,

Abstract

The paper is devoted to a description of the circuit diagrams, structural design and methods of application of multiple-wave interferometers of the Fabry-Perot type for studying processes and phenomena in transparent media located between the interferometer mirrors. Various multiple-wave interferometer schematics, basic types of light sources, methods and devices (monochromators) for obtaining narrow spectral lines, structural designs of interferometers, methods of exact adjustment and devices for realizing them, problems of interferogram processing techniques and equipment and methods of decoding them, and methods of recording the interference pattern are investigated. Methods are described for using multiple-wave interferometers for determination of stresses in transparent models, quality control of optical parts, plasma diagnostics, investigation of the parameters of gaseous substances, gas dynamic processes in rarefied gases, the study of thin films, vibrations, and application of multiple-wave interference techniques and equipment for high-resolution spectroscopy and metrology.
