Excerpts from the Officers' Handbook on Military Topography,
Abstract
The handbook deals with questions that make up the subject of military topography and was written for officers in all branches of the ARmed Forces. General information on terrain and methods for its study are presented in alphabetical-lexicographic form, with particular emphasis on military geodesy. The use of navigational equipment in orientation and methodological advice on organizing and conducting lessons on military topography are discussed in some detail, and tables of conventional signs, and a list of conventional abbreviations used on maps are provided.
