Breakdown in the Near Field of Re-Entry Vehicle Antennas.

Abstract

The research included: (a) a detailed study of the near field of aperture antennas and the influence of the near field upon breakdown, (b) improvements and extensions of a computer program developed to compute the admittance, isolation, and radiation pattern of a slot in a perfectly conducting plasma-coated ground plane, (c) analysis of experiments measuring breakdown power levels of high temperature air and nitrogen.
