Channel Capacity for Nonorthogonal Multiple Access Communications.

Abstract

In this paper a wide-sense receiver is suggested in the place of conventional individual receivers for a general nonorthogonal multiple access communication-system. It is shown that the channel capacity achieved by this wide-sense receiver is greater than the summation of conventional individual channel capacities (narrow-sense capacity). The author gives some examples of both continuous and discrete channels. The result indicates an alternative way of building a more complex receiver which achieves better channel utilization.
