Near-Steady Oblique Shock Waves in a Collisionless Plasma.

Abstract

Small amplitude near-steady oblique shock waves in a collisionless plasma are possible at Alfven Mach numbers 1 and cos theta. In the first case, either the magnetic pressure decreases monotonely or the head of the wave is near-periodic. In the second case, a main wavefront is followed by an oscillatory tail. (Author)
