STATSIM: Exercises in Statistics,

Abstract

STATSIM employs Monte Carlo procedures for the purpose of demonstrating descriptive and inferential statistics relating to the chi square, t, z, and F distributions, the concepts of Type I and Type 2 errors, and the sequential nature of hypothesis testing. STATSIM permits a student to explore the meaning of various statistical concepts by way of sample problems and exercises which may be worked as often as desired. The student is guided through the hypothesis testing procedure by actually inspecting the data and successively making appropriate inferential decisions as further hypothesis testing information is given him. The final inference may be evaluated by STATSIM to provide the student with feedback on the correctness of his inference. (Author)
