Biochemistry of the Luminescence of Marine Organisms.

Abstract

A very brief summary is given of studies of the biochemistry of bioluminescence in marine organisms. The work was concerned primarily with three groups of organisms: Bacteria, Dinoflagellates and Coelenterates. Knowledge of the chemistry of this bioluminescence will be essential to an understanding of its role and control in the ocean, and in the ecological aspects thereof.
