Numerical Filtering Techniques for the Time-Series Analysis of Oceanographic and Meteorological Data.

Abstract

The basic concepts of the numerical filtering technique, using symmetrical filters is introduced. Two computer programs are described: one, given certain input informations, plots the impulse, step and frequency response and specifies the weights of one of eight different filter types selected by the user; the other calculates the minimum number of weights necessary to achieve a certain frequency response of the Linnette type filter.
