Wave Action and Breakwater Location, Noyo Harbor, California: Hydraulic Model Investigation.

Abstract

The entire Noyo Cove at the mouth of Noyo River, the lower 0.8 mile of Noyo River, and sufficient coastline and offshore bathymetry to permit accurate simulation of storm-wave attack in the area were reproduced in a 1:100-scale hydraulic model, equipped with wave-generating and wave-height-measuring devices, used to predict the efficacy of several proposed breadwater plans in providing suitable protection to sea-going lumber barges, which would be moored along a proposed inner-harbor pier, during periods of storm-wave attack.
