Design and Analysis of a 10-50 MeV Monoenergetic Positron Source,

Abstract

Through a matrix description of the capture and acceleration of positrons by a linear accelerator with magnetic guide fields, the optimum design and operating conditions corresponding to the maximum useful yield of positrons are determined. An expression for the differential yield is presented which is readily adaptable to various field configurations for the converter lens and to arbitrary radial distributions of positrons at the converter target.
